    Car now offered at:

    www.classicdriver.com/en/car/austin-healey/3000/1959/1073417

    Seller's description:

    Nout Classic Cars, Netherlands

    1959 Austin-Healey 3000 MK1 BT7

    Price USD 71 456

This particular example was built in August 1959 and comes with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate confirming its authenticity. Even more remarkable, it is a fully matching numbers car – chassis, body, engine, and even the original ignition key all correspond exactly to the factory records from 1959. Such completeness is rare and adds significant collector value.

Imported from the United States in 2019, the car subsequently underwent a meticulous body-off restoration. Every aspect has been addressed in detail: bodywork, chassis, drivetrain, interior, and mechanical components have all been restored to their original specifications. The result is a Healey that looks and drives as if it has just left the factory.

In June 2023, this Austin Healey was registered in the Netherlands and has seen only limited use since. The 2,912cc six-cylinder engine, paired with a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive, delivers a delightful combination of power and refinement. The distinctive exhaust note, responsive steering, and open-top motoring make every drive an occasion to savour.

The BT7 variant features the 2+2 seating configuration, adding extra practicality without compromising style. The interior is beautifully finished with high-quality materials and great attention to detail, while the bodywork is flawless and presented in very nice paint. All chrome trim is in excellent condition, accentuating the elegant yet sporty lines of the car.

With its combination of historical significance, matching numbers originality, high end restoration, and immediate road readiness, this is an exceptional offering. Also equipped with a list of interesting options such as:

Minilite rims with Michelin X-AS tyres, SPAX telescopic adjustable rear shock absorber conversion, Fosseway brakes front, seats dash and steering wheel in leather, spin-on oil filter conversion, alternator conversion, large cooling fan, electronic ignition, fog lights on stainless steel brackets, indoor car cover etc. and all original items are sold with the car!

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
