This 1961 Austin-Healey 3000 BT7 Mk I was refurbished by the seller’s late grandfather in the early 2010s, and it is finished in red over black leather with red piping. The car is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and equipment includes a black soft top, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, front disc brakes, a tonneau cover, a louvered hood, detachable side windows, a cabin heater, and front bucket seats. This 3000 Mk I was acquired by the seller in 2023 and is now offered with the owner’s manual, spare parts, a car cover, and a clean Ohio title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in red and was repainted during the aforementioned refurbishment. Features include a louvered hood with a scoop, a removable black soft top, a tonneau cover, detachable side windows, and chrome bumpers with overriders.
The 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with Nexen SB802 tires measuring 165/80. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.
The 2+2 cabin was refreshed and features bucket seats that have been re-trimmed in black leather with red piping along with replacement black carpets. Interior appointments include lap belts, a cabin heater, door storage pockets, and a passenger-side grab handle.
The banjo-style steering wheel features a 100-6 horn button and frames Smiths white-dial instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 71k miles, approximately 50 of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.9-liter inline-six featured dual SU HD6 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 137 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock-de Normanville electric overdrive. The frame has been refinished in red.
Chassis number HBT7L11344 is shown above, and the VIN on the Ohio title omits the HBT7L prefix.
Sold for $38,000 on 7/8/24
