This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is said to have been purchased new in Palo Alto, California, by a person who sold the car to the seller’s father-in-law in 1978. The seller acquired the vehicle in 2005 and had it recommissioned after about 20 years of storage, and it was relocated from California to Massachusetts in 2019. Power is supplied by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Finished in British Racing Green over black Ambla vinyl, the Healey features a black soft top, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, front disc brakes, a luggage rack, a wood dashboard, a push-button radio, three-point seatbelts, and dual SU carburetors. The wheels were replaced and the brakes were overhauled early in the seller’s stewardship of the car, and the clutch and the exhaust system were replaced in the 2010s. The starter was replaced and the brakes were serviced in September 2025. Now showing 48k miles, this BJ8 is offered with an owner’s manual, service records dating back to the 1970s, a removed set of wire wheels, a tool kit, spare parts, and a clean Massachusetts title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in British Racing Green and features a hood scoop, bright trim, a luggage rack, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The folding black soft top has a tear on the driver side that has been stitched and repaired, as pictured in the gallery below. The seller notes that the fender-mounted driver-side mirror has been replaced.
Silver-painted 15″ knock-off wire wheels were replaced in 2007 and mounted with the current set of 165R15 Vredestein Sprint+ S80 tires. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. The brakes were overhauled in 2005, and the rear brakes and the brake servo were serviced in 2012. The brake fluid was flushed in 2025.
The 2+2 cabin features bucket seats trimmed in black Ambla vinyl with contrasting piping. Interior appointments include a wood dashboard, a wood shift knob, a push-button radio, a center console, a cabin heater, and three-point front seatbelts. The seller notes that the lock on the glove compartment has been replaced.
The banjo-style steering wheel frames Smiths black-dial instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 48k miles, approximately 3,500 of which were added under current ownership. The speedometer-angle drive was replaced in 2005.
The 2.9-liter inline-six featured dual SU HD8 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 150 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. The exhaust system and mufflers were replaced in 2019. The Lucas starter was rebuilt and the oil was changed in September 2025.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive. The clutch system and the front transmission seal were replaced in 2012.
Service records dating back to the 1970s will accompany the vehicle.
