This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The car is finished in Colorado Red over black vinyl and equipped with a black soft top, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, front disc brakes, a top boot, a tonneau cover, a hood scoop, a cabin heater, and front bucket seats. This 3000 Mk III was acquired by the selling dealer in 2024 and is now offered at no reserve with service records and a clean North Carolina title.

The car is finished in Colorado Red (RD2) and features a black soft top, a top boot, a hood scoop, bright trim, and chrome bumpers with overriders.

The 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 165-series Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.

The four-place cabin features bucket seats trimmed in Black Ambla vinyl, and interior appointments include a cabin heater, a center console, a locking glovebox, and wood trim.

The banjo-style steering wheel frames Smiths black-dial instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 71k miles.

The 2.9-liter inline-six featured dual SU HD8 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 150 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. Service in 2024 included replacing the hood bumpers and touching up the paint in the engine bay and trunk.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock-de Normanville electric overdrive.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
