This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is said to have been purchased new by the late owner’s father and inherited by the late owner in 1989. It is finished in white over black vinyl upholstery and powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a Laycock de Normanville overdrive unit. Equipment includes a black soft top, chrome bumpers, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, front disc brakes, driving lights, dual SU carburetors, wood dashboard accents, and an AM/FM radio. The car was reportedly last registered in 2007, and it has been in storage since. This 3000 BJ8 is now offered as a non-driving project by the late owner’s wife with an owner’s handbook, a workshop manual, and a clean Maryland title in the seller’s name.

The body is finished in white and is fitted with a black soft top. Additional equipment includes a side mirror, chrome front and rear bumpers with overriders, vent windows, and twin chrome exhaust tips. A dent is present on the left-rear quarter panel, rust holes are noted in the rocker panels, doors, and lower quarter panels, and various scratches, dings, and cracks in the paint are present around the body.

Silver-finished 15″ wire wheels are retained with two-eared knock-off spinners and mounted with 175-series Michelin ZX tires. Braking is handled by servo-assisted discs up front and drums out back.

The 2+2 cabin features low-back front bucket seats and rear seats trimmed in black vinyl with a color-coordinated dash pad, door panels, and carpets. Additional equipment includes burl wood dashboard trim, a heater, a wood shift knob, an AM/FM stereo, and front lap belts. Mold spores are noted on the steering surfaces, the window channels have rust, and cracks are present in the dashboard trim.

The banjo-style steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 54k miles, and the true mileage is unknown. Tape is present on the steering wheel.

The 2.9-liter inline-six is equipped with twin SU carburetors and was reportedly last serviced in 2006. Further work is required before driving.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with an electronically actuated overdrive unit. Rust is noted on the underside components.

The car number on the chassis plate reads HBJ8L/40139, while the Maryland title lists the VIN as HBJ8V40139.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
