Additional equipment includes a black soft top, dual carburetors, 15″ wire wheels, chrome bumpers, and an AM radio. The car was sold new by Imported Cars of Greenwich, Connecticut, and was acquired by the current owner in March 2020. This BJ8 is offered on dealer consignment with a driver’s handbook, a workshop manual, a spare set of wheels, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, service records, and a clean California title.
Finished from the factory in Dark British Racing Green, the car features a black soft top, chrome bumpers with overriders, bullet-style mirrors, and twin exhaust outlets. The driving lamps were reportedly repaired in January 2020. Rust is visible near the bottom of the rear fenders.
Chrome 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 165-width Metric Radial tires. Braking is handled by front disks and rear drums, and the brake lines were replaced in May 2018. A spare set of five silver wire wheels is included in the sale.
The cabin features front bucket seats and rear cushions upholstered in black vinyl with perforated inserts and metallic piping. Amenities include a burl wood dash, a heater, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a locking glovebox, lap belts, roll-up windows, an AM radio, and Austin-Healey branded rubber floor mats.

The 2.9-liter inline-six features dual SU carburetors and was rated at 150 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque when new. Service in January 2020 included overhauling the clutch master and slave cylinders in addition to replacing the fuel pump and axle seals.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with electronic overdrive.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists factory colors, equipment, and a dispatch date of December 7, 1966.

Lot #267410
This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III was purchased in Virginia in 1978 by a U.S. Navy admiral from a Central Intelligence Agency employee, whose neighbor’s brother in upstate New York had bought the car new. The Healey spent time with the admiral in California and Florida before it found a new owner in California in early 2020. That person had the vehicle consigned on BaT in February 2022. Finished in Dark British Racing Green over black Ambla vinyl, the car is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Work performed since the previous BaT auction has involved repairing rust on the lower quarter panels, installing a stainless-steel exhaust system and an electric fuel pump, servicing the braking and cooling systems, rewiring the driving lights, adding four-way hazard flashers, and replacing the wire wheels, tires, clutch cylinders, valve-cover gasket, tune-up parts, and the heater core. The current owner purchased the vehicle in late 2023. Now showing 25k miles, this BJ8 is offered on dealer consignment by 911r—a BaT Local Partner—with service records dating back to the 1990s, written communications from prior owners, manufacturer’s literature, a tonneau cover, a spare set of wheels and other parts, a tool kit, a car cover, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean Oregon title in the owner’s name.
Finished from the factory in Dark British Racing Green, the car comes with a black soft top and a matching tonneau cover and a boot cover. Other features include a hood scoop, fender-mounted side mirrors, bright trim, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers with overriders. Rust repair was performed on the lower quarter panels in mid-2023. In addition, the Lucas driving lights have been rewired. The seller notes faded paint as well as imperfections in the grille and the soft top.
The silver-painted 15″ knock-off wire wheels were replaced in late 2023 and mounted with 165SR15 Michelin XZX tires. In mid-2022, the brake master cylinder, front pads, and a rotor were replaced, as were the idler arm and the sway-bar mounts.
The 2+2 cabin features front bucket seats and rear cushions upholstered in black Ambla vinyl with contrasting piping. Appointments include a burl wood dashboard, a locking glovebox, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, front and rear lap belts, roll-up windows, black carpeting, and Austin-Healey–branded rubber floor mats. The heater core was replaced in 2023. The British Motor Corporation–branded push-button AM radio does not work, and the driver-side door card is torn.
The banjo-style steering wheel frames Smiths black-dial instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 25k miles, approximately 900 of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.9-liter inline-six featured dual SU HD8 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 150 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. A stainless-steel exhaust system was installed in April 2022, and the coolant hoses and a belt were replaced. In 2023, an electric fuel pump was installed, and the valve-cover gasket, ignition rotor, and spark plugs were replaced. A coolant overflow bottle was fitted under current ownership, and the spark plugs were cleaned in August 2026, at which time an exhaust leak was repaired. A compression test conducted in September 2026 yielded results ranging between 145 and 150 psi. Replacement fuel lines are included in the sale. The rear main seal is leaking.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive. The clutch cylinders and a gearbox bushing were replaced in April 2022. The transmission leaks fluid.
The December 2019 letter above is from the 1978–2020 owner to the dealership that consigned the vehicle at that time and later listed it on BaT in February 2022 for the next owner.
A spare set of five silver-painted wire wheels with old Dunlop tires is included in the sale. Other spare parts and accompanying items such as manufacturer’s literature, a tool kit, and a car cover are included.
