1967 Austin-Healey 3000 MkIII (BJ8)
14,071 Miles (Indicated)
LHDmanual
Waterloo, Belgium
Registration 1-0BS-426
A refined classic British grand tourer, this BJ8-generation Austin Healey 3000 MkIII is presented in an attractive colour scheme, and has been enhanced with a five-speed gearbox for improved drivability.
It is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.9-litre inline-six, driving the rear wheels via a BMW five-speed manual transmission.
Reported to have been first registered in the UK in July 1967, the car is now located in Belgium and accompanied by its certificate of conformity, car pass, and MG Rover Belux attestation.
The odometer indicates 14,071 miles, though this is not warranted.
Equipment and features
This BJ8-era 3000 MkIII is finished in the attractive shade of Hunting Green with a black vinyl soft-top roof, over a black leatherette-trimmed interior, featuring wood veneer dashboard inlays and chrome trim highlights.
It rides on a set of 15-inch chrome cross-spoke wire-wheels with three-spoke knock-offs, framing red brake callipers, and fitted with Michelin XAS tyres.
Equipment includes twin front spotlights, a chrome rear luggage rack, a wood-rimmed Moto Lita steering wheel, Smiths gauges, overdrive, heater and ventilation controls, a Philips push-button radio, push-out front quarter light windows, and a wooden gear knob.
Notably, this example has been fitted with a BMW-sourced five-speed manual gearbox, offering improved refinement and usability at higher cruising speeds compared to the original four-speed unit.
The car is offered with a certificate of conformity, a two-part Belgian registration document (carte grise), a car pass, and an attestation from MG Rover Belux.
One ignition key is included.
Condition
Specific notes from the seller include: the paintwork has received some localised attention over the years, with minor retouching noted. There are various small scratches and paint blemishes around the bodywork consistent with its age, and some deterioration and tears to the seat upholstery.
Service history
This 3000’s most recent routine maintenance was carried out in March 2020 at an indicated 5,020 miles by SPRL Garage André, which included a full service at a cost of €1,893.
