This 1966 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III underwent a repaint and an interior re-trim in as part of a refurbishment completed in 1990, and is said to have remained with the prior owner from 1988 until the current owner’s acquisition in 2022. The car is finished in Healey Blue with a blue soft top over blue leather upholstery and powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six equipped with dual SU carburetors. Shifting is through a four-speed manual transmission with an electrically actuated overdrive unit, and further equipment includes 15″ Minilite wheels, front disc brakes, 2+2 seating, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a Realistic radio. This 3000 BJ8 Mk III is now offered on dealer consignment with a BMIHT certificate, a blue tonneau cover, and a clean Texas title listing the car as a 1967 model.

The body was repainted in its current Healey Blue finish as part of the aforementioned 1990 refurbishment. The blue folding soft top is accompanied by a removable blue tonneau cover, and further details include a hood scoop, Monza-branded exhaust finishers, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The seller notes that the trunk latch does not engage.

The 15″ Minilite-style alloy wheels are mounted with 185/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.

The 2+2 cabin features bucket seats trimmed in blue leather, and wood trim adorns the dash on either side of the center stack. Further interior appointments include a Realistic AM/FM radio along with a heater, a locking glovebox, and hand-crank windows. The selling dealer tells us that the interior was re-trimmed as part of the 1990 refurbishment.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths black-dial instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 83k miles.

The 2.9-liter inline-six featured dual SU HD8 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 150 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. A PerTronix Flame-Thrower ignition has been added. The engine number plate is missing.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive.

The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate lists factory colors and equipment along with a build date in August 1966.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
