This black-on-black 1966 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III was refurbished prior to 2019, and it is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The current owner purchased the vehicle in 2020, and subsequent work involved replacing the wire wheels and the tonneau cover and also installing an alternator, a high-torque starter, a ceramic interior heat shield, and LED lights. Other features include a black soft top, front disc brakes, dual SU carburetors, an aluminum radiator, a stainless-steel exhaust system, and a Moto-Lita wood-rimmed steering wheel. This 3000 is now offered on dealer consignment with an Austin-Healey book and a North Carolina title.

The car has been repainted in black, and it was ceramic-coated in 2020 and LED lighting was installed, according to the seller. The folding black soft top has been replaced, and other features include a tonneau cover, a hood scoop, fender-mounted side mirrors, bright trim, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The seller notes corrosion on the convertible top’s folding brackets and also that the poorly fitting rubber seal on the right side of the top causes issues with it closing and sealing.

Chrome-finished 15″ knock-off wire wheels that were replaced in 2020 are mounted with Vredestein Sprint+ S80 tires measuring 165R15. Braking is handled by servo-assisted front discs and rear drums.

The 2+2 cabin features bucket seats that have been reupholstered in black leather. Interior appointments include a wood shift knob, a locking glovebox, a center console, a cabin heater, and black carpeting. The floor mats were replaced in 2020. A ceramic heat shield for the floor and center tunnel was fitted in 2021, per the seller.

The Moto-Lita wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths black-dial instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 77k miles, approximately 1,700 of which were added under current ownership.

The 2.9-liter inline-six featured dual SU HD8 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 150 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. An alternator conversion was adapted in 2021, and a high-torque starter was installed. The car also has been modified with an aluminum radiator and a stainless-steel exhaust system.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive.

The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate indicates that the car was built on December 10th, 1965, and lists the factory serial numbers, colors, and equipment.

The chassis number stamped into the replacement oval tag is HBJ8L34266. The North Carolina title cites as the VIN the number displayed on the North Carolina DMV–issued rectangular tag: NCS103123.
