This 1966 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in red over black vinyl. Details include a black soft top and boot cover, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, servo-assisted front disc brakes, a hood scoop, chrome bumpers, a cabin heater, and front bucket seats. The car was acquired by the current owner in 2012, and a stainless-steel exhaust system was installed under current ownership. This 3000 Mk III is offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a clean California title in the current owner’s name.
The car is finished in red and features a replacement folding black soft top and boot cover. Further details include a hood scoop, bright trim, a bullet-style side mirror, polished dual exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The chrome is pitted, the windshield wipers do not fully park when off, corrosion is noted on exterior panels, and the body panel gaps around the trunk are inconsistent.
The 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with Nexen SB-802 tires. A spare is mounted in place of the right-rear wheel, and the removed wheel and Nexen tire are stowed in the trunk. Braking is handled by servo-assisted front discs and rear drums.
The 2+2 cabin is trimmed in black vinyl, and interior equipment includes a center console, woodgrain trim, and lap belts. The radio does not work, the shifter boot is torn, and the dash pad is cracked.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 81k miles, approximately 8k of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.9-liter inline-six featured dual SU HD8 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 150 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock-de Normanville electric overdrive, though the functionality of the overdrive is unknown. Holes in the exhaust pipe are noted.
