Seller's description:
1965 Austin Healey 3000 Mk III Phase 2
Originally dispatched from Abingdon on 20th October 1965, This Austin Healey 3000 Mk III chassis H-BJ8-L/33431 was exported to Philadelphia USA.
The car was purchased by the current owner, from the original owner in Philadelphia 32 years ago. Once imported to the UK, the car was converted to RHD and resprayed.
The Heritage certificate supplied with the car shows the vehicle to have originally been British racing green with black interior. This final and most powerful incarnation of the ‘Big’ Healey is very much in standard specification but has had a full lead-free conversion. A structurally superb car with excellent panel gaps, it is fitted with its original outer body work. The engine has excellent oil pressure hot or cold, runs smoothly and does not overheat. The gearbox syncros are excellent and the overdrive engages smoothly. Running on Original 2” SU carbs. The car remains positive earth and is on its original points ignition system, dynamo and starter motor.
The car has remained with its present owner for the past 32 years, who is only the second owner of this car. A car that has rarely been used for the past 5 years and is the closest you will achieve to the original 60’s motoring. The car is incredibly smooth and well balanced. It is a refined ride and no squeaks or rattles.
The car had new 180HR Michelin XAS tyres fitted in August 2016, with very few miles completed since. The Gearbox was rebuilt by ourselves at JME in 2014. The car also had Interior trim & seat repairs completed in 2016.
The car will be supplied with past servicing invoices and work completed at JME Healeys.
This desirable last-of-the-line 3000 Mk III needs to be driven to fully appreciate it and is offered for sale with its UK V5C Registration Document, Heritage certificate, drivers handbook and an invoices file. The car will be supplied fully serviced and ready to be enjoyed.
A highly original and attractive car at a sensible price.
The car is now being advertised and sold on behalf of the current owner.
