This 1965 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III was refurbished under prior ownership between approximately 2017 and 2022. The car has been repainted in red and white over black vinyl upholstery, and power is supplied by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Other equipment includes a black soft top, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, front disc brakes, dual SU carburetors, PerTronix electronic ignition, a top boot, fender-mounted side mirrors, dual exhaust outlets, a center console, a wood dashboard, and lap belts. This 3000 Mk III was acquired by the current owner in 2025 and is now offered in New Jersey on dealer consignment with partial service records since 2016 and a clean Pennsylvania title.
The car was repainted in red with white lower sections around 2022, according to the seller. The black soft top has been replaced, and other features include a top boot, a tonneau cover, a hood scoop, fender-mounted side mirrors, dual exhaust outlets, bright trim, and chrome bumpers with overriders. Damage to the paint ahead of the right-rear wheel opening is pictured in the gallery below.
Silver-painted 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with Classic All Season radial tires measuring 165/80. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.
The 2+2 cabin features bucket seats that have been retrimmed in black vinyl, and the dashboard was removed and switches were replaced in 2017. Interior appointments include a wood dashboard fascia, a center console, lap belts, a locking glovebox, and a dash-mounted rearview mirror.
The banjo-style steering wheel frames Smiths black-dial instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 39k miles, approximately 20 of which were added under current ownership. The seller states that the odometer reading is not accurate, and true mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter inline-six featured dual SU HD8 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 150 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. The wiring harness was replaced in 2017, the carburetors were rebuilt, and the fuel system was overhauled. PerTronix electronic ignition is fitted, and the exhaust system has been modified.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The underbody was resprayed during the refurbishment.
