This 1964 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is noted to have undergone a color change to white and an interior re-trim in tan upholstery as part of a refurbishment completed circa 2001 prior to having its 2.9-liter inline-six rebuilt in 2005. The car wears Lucas driving lights along with a tan soft and rides on 15″ knock-off wire wheels. Inside, 2+2 seating is accompanied by a Moto-Lita steering wheel, Smiths gauges, and a retrofitted radio. The engine is fitted with dual SU carburetors, while shifting is through a four-speed manual transmission linked with a Laycock de Normanville overdrive unit. This Healey was acquired by the selling dealer in 2026 and is now offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, a driver’s handbook, a service manual, and a Florida title.
The car left the factory finished in Healey Blue and was repainted in its current white finish circa 2001, according to the selling dealer. It wears a replacement tan soft top and is further equipped with a hood scoop, Lucas driving lights, fender-mounted side mirrors, dual exhaust outlets, and bumpers with overriders.
The 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 205/65 Michelin tires, and braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.
The refreshed 2+2 cabin houses bucket seats trimmed in tan upholstery and is accented by wood trim on the dash. A retrofitted radio has been added, and further details include a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a locking glovebox, and Austin Healey–branded floor mats.
The Moto-Lita steering wheel features a wood rim and frames Smiths black-dial instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination readout displaying oil pressure and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 25k miles, and true mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter inline-six featured dual SU HD8 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 150 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. The engine was reportedly rebuilt in 2005.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with a Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive unit.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists a build date in April 1964 as well as factory colors and equipment.
The current Florida title lists a “Not Actual” notation in the Odometer Status section.
