This 1963 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ7 Mk IIA is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, and it is finished in green with a black soft top. Equipment includes headlight guards, fender-mounted side mirrors, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, servo-assisted front disc brakes, boot and tonneau covers, a hood scoop, a cabin heater, and front bucket seats trimmed in tan vinyl. The car was acquired by the seller’s parents in 2000, and the brakes were overhauled in July 2024. This 3000 Mk IIA is now offered by the seller on behalf of their parents with service records, a car cover, a grille bar, and Connecticut registration.
The car is finished in green and features a folding black soft top, a top boot, a tonneau cover, a hood scoop, headlight rock guards, bright trim, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The driver’s door glass is scratched, imperfections and corrosion are noted in the gallery, and a hole on the passenger side of the soft top has been patched. The trunk hinge was replaced and the handle was repaired in July 2024.
Knock-off 15″ wire-spoke wheels are mounted with Dunlop SP4 Radial tires. Braking is handled by servo-assisted front discs and rear drums, and work in July 2024 included repacking the wheel bearings, cleaning the hubs, adjusting the parking brake, and replacing front calipers, brackets, pads, hoses, and rotors along with the rear wheel cylinders, drums, hubs, and shoes.
The 2+2 cabin features bucket seats trimmed in tan upholstery, and interior appointments include a cabin heater, a padded dashboard, and a dash-mounted rearview mirror. The door panel upholstery is wrinkled, the driver’s seatback has a tear, and the high-beam foot switch is inoperative.
The banjo-style steering wheel frames Smiths white-dial instrumentation, and the fuel gauge does not work. The five-digit odometer shows 49k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.9-liter inline-six is equipped with SU carburetors and a Flame Thrower ignition coil, and factory rated output was 136 horsepower and 167 lb-ft of torque. Work in July 2024 included adjusting the carburetors, replacing the ignition wires and starter solenoid, and installing a rebuilt starter.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive. The differential fluid was replaced in July 2024, and the fuel tank, foam pad, and sending unit were replaced in 2010.
A grille bar with driving lights is included in the sale along with wheel removal tools and a tonneau and boot cover.
