This 1958 Austin-Healey 100-6 BN6 is a left-hand-drive, two-seat roadster that was built in July 1958 and dispatched to Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. The car is said to have remained under the care of a single family from the early 1960s through 2017, during which time it underwent refurbishment work in the 1990s and after which it was acquired by the seller’s father. Finished in duotone Pacific Green and Florida Green, the car is powered by a 2.6-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Inside, beige leather trim is accompanied by a Smiths cabin heater, lap belts, and a push-button radio. Additional equipment includes a tan convertible top, a luggage rack, 15″ wire wheels, and four-wheel drum brakes. This BN6 is now offered in Canada by the seller on behalf of their father’s estate with a tonneau cover, sliding-window side curtains, an owner’s handbook, refurbishment records, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, and Ontario registration in the father’s name that lists the vehicle’s model year as 1959.
Finished from the factory in duotone Pacific Green and Florida Green, the car was mounted to a rotisserie as part of the aforementioned 1990s refurbishment, during which it underwent bodywork prior to being refinished by Reg Beer Coachbuilder Corp. of Bolton, Ontario, Canada. Exterior details include chrome bumpers with overriders as well as a hood scoop, dual fender-mounted side mirrors, a rear luggage rack, and twin exhaust tips. A tan convertible top is installed, and a tan tonneau cover along with sliding side windows will accompany the vehicle.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured via two-eared knock-offs and mounted with 165-series Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel drums.
The reupholstered cabin houses a pair of low-back bucket seats trimmed in beige leather with green piping complemented by a color-coordinated dashboard and door panels. Green carpeting lines the floors, and additional appointments include lap belts, a Smiths under-dash heater, a passenger-side grab handle, and a push-button radio.
The banjo-style steering wheel features a 100-6 horn button and fronts Smiths instrumentation that includes a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges monitoring oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 66k miles, less than 10 of which have been added since 2020.
The 2.6L inline-six was overhauled in the early 1980s and is equipped with twin SU carburetors. Output was rated at 117 horsepower and 149 lb-ft of torque when new. The radiator core has been rebuilt.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission with an electrically actuated Laycock de Normanville overdrive unit.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists factory colors, equipment, and initial delivery to the Austin Motor Company (Canada) of Vancouver, British Columbia, along with a build date in July 1958. The certificate also notes a chassis number of BN6-LO/2065, whereas the chassis plate and the Ontario registration document list the VIN as BN6L92065.
The vehicle does not have a title and is being sold on its Ontario registration, which serves as the ownership document in Ontario, Canada.
