This 1958 Austin-Healey 100-6 BN4 four-seat roadster was built in March 1958 and was sold new by a dealership in Wiesbaden, Germany. The seller’s father purchased the car in 2010, and subsequent refurbishment work involved overhauling the braking and cooling systems, installing PerTronix electronic ignition, rebuilding the dual SU carburetors, and replacing the clutch cylinders, the exhaust system, and the 15″ wire wheels. The vehicle has been repainted in black and red and is powered by a 2.6-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Features include a removable black hardtop, a black tonneau cover, a front anti-roll bar, a Moto-Lita wood-rimmed steering wheel, a wood shift knob, and lap belts. This BN4 is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of his late father’s trust with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, spare parts, and an Illinois title in the seller’s father’s name.

Finished from the factory in Ivory White, the car has been repainted in two-tone black and red. The headlamps were replaced under current ownership, and stone guards are fitted. Other features include a hood scoop, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers with overriders.

Chrome-finished Hendrix 15″ knock-off wire wheels were installed under current ownership and are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires measuring 185/70. Other work performed since 2010 included replacement of the braking system’s master cylinder, brake/clutch reservoir, drums, shoes, wheel cylinders, lines, and handbrake cable as well as the outer wheel bearings.

The 2+2 cabin features low-back bucket seats that are trimmed in red vinyl and are complemented by a color-coordinated dashboard and door panels. Appointments include a Smiths heater, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a wood shift knob, a passenger-side grab handle, front seatbelts, black carpeting, and polished trim on the door tops and behind the rear seats.

The Moto-Lita wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 76k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership. The fuel gauge is inaccurate.

The 2.6-liter inline-six was equipped from the factory with dual SU carburetors. A finned valve cover and PerTronix electronic ignition have been fitted. The carburetors were rebuilt under current ownership, and the fuel lines, water pump, heater hose, and air hoses were replaced along with the spark plugs and plug wires. The seller notes that the engine drips oil.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The clutch cylinders were replaced under current ownership and so was the exhaust system and muffler.

The accompanying hardtop is pictured in the gallery below, as are the black tonneau cover and the removed wire wheels and tires.

The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate indicates that the vehicle was built on March 21, 1958, and lists the factory serial numbers, colors, equipment, and destination.

The car’s chassis number is BN4LO60046, whereas the Illinois title cites as the VIN the sequence on the smallest tag shown in the image above: 550183257. That nine-digit number is also found on a tax disc from 1958.
