This 1955 Austin-Healey 100 BN1 roadster was fitted with a Ford 302ci V8, C4 three-speed automatic transmission, and narrowed 9″ rear end as part of a build completed under previous ownership circa 2012. Finished in satin black, the bodywork is fitted atop a custom square-tube chassis that incorporates an independent front and four-link rear suspension with rack-and-pinion steering, ventilated front disc brakes, and adjustable coilovers. The car rides on staggered American Racing slotted wheels and features an adjustable windscreen, dual driving lights, and billet rear bumperettes. Inside, the cockpit is outfitted with aluminum paneling and houses black vinyl–trimmed fiberglass bucket seats, a Moto-Lita steering wheel, and a B&M shifter. The engine is equipped with a Holley double-pumper carburetor and a Weiand intake manifold as well as “shorty” headers flowing into a side-exit dual exhaust system. Acquired by the current owner in 2022, this modified 100 is now offered at no reserve by Sierra Classic Sportscar—a BaT Local Partner—with a California title.
The BN1 bodywork was modified, repainted satin black, and fitted atop the custom square-tube chassis as part of the aforementioned build. A louvered hood is secured by two leather straps and sits ahead of an adjustable windscreen. Further details include driving lights, fender-mounted mirrors, shaved turn signals, billet rear bumperettes, and a Ford decklid badge. The car does not have a top.
The 14″ front and 15″ rear American Racing slotted wheels are mounted with 195/70 Bridgestone Potenza tires as well as N50-15 ProTrac rubber, respectively. The custom square-tube chassis features an independent front and four-link rear suspension. The car is further equipped with rack-and-pinion steering as well as ventilated front disc brakes paired with rear drums.
The cockpit features a custom aluminum transmission tunnel, bulkheads and floors. It houses fiberglass bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl accompanied by blue latch-and-link belts, and a fire extinguisher is stored below the right seat.
The wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel is paired with a B&M shifter and frames an AutoMeter 120-mph speedometer and 10k-rpm tachometer along with Stewart Warner auxiliary gauges. The retrofitted five-digit odometer shows 1,800 miles, less than 100 of which were added under current ownership. The seller states that true mileage is unknown.
The battery and fuel tank have been relocated to the trunk, and the fuel system features a Holley electric pump.
The 302ci Ford V8 is equipped with a Holley 600-CFM double-pumper carburetor, a Weiand intake manifold, and finned valve covers. An aluminum radiator at the front of the car is fitted with an electric puller fan, while the the exhaust system is comprised of “shorty” headers flowing into a side-exit dual exhaust system. The seller tells us that work in May 2025 involved rebuilding the carburetor and distributor as well as changing the distributor cap, rotor, and points along with the condenser, starter solenoid, battery cable terminal, spark plugs, and ignition wires.
The Ford C4 three-speed automatic transmission is paired with an auxiliary cooler and linked with a narrowed Ford 9″ rear end. Rust is visible on various underside components.
The car is titled using the sequence BN1L224043 that appears on the reproduction chassis plate. The current California title carries a “Transfer Only” notation.
