This 1955 Austin-Healey 100 BN1 roadster is said to have been under the care of its previous owner from the late 1970s through the seller’s acquisition in 2022. Finished in color-changing paint over tan upholstery, the car is powered by a 350ci V8 mated to a five-speed manual transmission and a C1 Corvette-sourced rear end with a 3.55:1 limited-slip differential. Additional equipment includes an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, a Griffin aluminum radiator, 15″ wire wheels, Bilstein shocks, front disc brakes, Stewart-Warner instrumentation, and a banjo-style steering wheel. This BN1 roadster is now offered at no reserve with a transferable New York State registration document in the seller’s name.
The bodywork has been modified with flared wheel arches and is finished in green-to-blue color-changing paint. Exterior details include a louvered hood secured via a leather strap as well as a folding windshield, a left mirror, and chrome bumpers with overriders. A tonneau cover along with an uninstalled convertible top frame, soft top, and side curtains will accompany the car. Flaws in the finish are visible.
Silver-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured via knock-off hubs and are mounted with 185/65 Continental ContiTouring Contact tires, while a matching spare wheel is stored in the trunk compartment. Bilstein shocks have been installed at each corner, and stopping power is provided by front discs and rear drum brakes.
The cockpit houses low-back bucket seats trimmed in tan leather with green piping accompanied by a black dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Lap belts are fitted for both occupants, and additional appointments include a Hurst shifter, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a passenger grab handle, and an under-dash storage tray. The door cards have separated from the door panels.
A banjo-style steering wheel fronts Stewart-Warner instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 9k-rpm tachometer, and a trio of auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 8k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The Chevrolet 350ci V8 is said to have been purchased as a crate motor prior to being installed under previous ownership. Equipment includes an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, an aluminum intake manifold, a polished air cleaner and valve covers, and a Griffin aluminum radiator with an electric fan. The seller notes an oil leak as well as an exhaust leak at the right exhaust manifold.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a rear axle that was reportedly sourced from a 1959 Corvette and houses a 3.55:1 limited-slip differential. The car has been fitted with a dual exhaust system, and corrosion is visible on a number of underside components.
The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for a vehicle of its age. It is being sold on its transferable New York State registration.
