This 1966 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, and it is finished in metallic blue over blue vinyl upholstery. The car was acquired in 2012 by the current owner, who subsequently completed an engine tune-up and refurbishment of the brake system, clutch hydraulics, carburetors, bumpers, and wheels in 2014. Equipment includes a blue soft top and top boot, dual side mirrors, 15″ wire wheels, power-assisted front disc brakes, a banjo-style steering wheel, and dual SU carburetors. This 3000 BJ8 is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with Austin-Healey literature, a car cover, service records, and a transferable New York registration.

The car was reportedly refinished in metallic blue in 1988 and features a blue soft top, a blue top boot, a hood scoop, a cowl-mounted antenna, dual fender-mounted side mirrors, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The seller notes wear areas on the soft top, and blemishes are shown on the front fascia near the headlights, above the right taillight, and along the body sides.

Chrome 15″ wire wheels secured by two-eared knock-offs are wrapped in 165/80 Vredestein T-Trac tires showing 2013 date codes. Braking is handled by power-assisted front disc and rear drum brakes, and the brake system was reportedly overhauled in 2014 after the current owner’s acquisition. The chrome wheels were reportedly refurbished, and spots of pitting and corrosion are pictured in the gallery.

The front bucket seats and rear cushions are upholstered in blue vinyl with gray piping. Interior details include a heater, a locking glove box, a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror, front lap belts, and Austin-Healey-branded rubber floor mats. The wood dashboard veneer around the glovebox is worn, and the dash pad has loose corners.

The banjo-style steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge for oil pressure and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 29k miles, approximately 250 of which were reportedly added under current ownership. The speedometer was replaced in 1973, and total mileage is unknown.

The 2.9-liter inline-six is equipped with dual SU carburetors and was factory rated at 150 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. The seller states the carburetors were serviced and a tune-up was completed when the owner purchased the vehicle. Rust is shown on the firewall.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. A rust-preventative coating was reportedly applied to the underside in 1977, and the exhaust system was reportedly replaced with a stainless steel assembly in 2014.

The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for a vehicle of its age. It is being sold on its New York registration.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
