Car to be at auction 8/13
www.auctionsamerica.com/events/feature-lots.cfm
Auction description:
California August 1-3, 2013
1955 Austin-Healey 100-4 BN-1 Roadster
Built by Former Dan Gurney All-American Racers Team Member
Chassis no. 220535
215-cid Buick V-8 engine, five-speed Tremec manual transmission, independent front with updated heavy-duty suspension, and front disc with rear drum brakes. Wheelbase: 90-inches
A professional frame-off restoration was recently completed on this example in which the original chassis was reinforced to accommodate the new high performance drive train and rack-and-pinion steering. This included the installation of a high performance 1963 Buick lightweight all-aluminum 215-cid V-8 motor mated to a five-speed Tremec T-50 manual transmission. All new instrumentation was installed along with all new upholstery, front disc brakes, a heavy-duty rear end and a sophisticated high performance suspension system.
In addition, several tasteful body modifications were subtly integrated into the original sheet metal. These functional modifications include the three louvers that have been added to the front fenders near the doors and the removal of the chrome spear front fender trim. Other modifications include the custom exhaust side-pipes, the twin rear mini chrome bumpers and the two additional tails lights.
This unique Healey 100-4 is an award winning show car, with only 5,458 miles since restoration and is equally ready for spirited driving or classic rallies. The car is also accompanied with a black tonneau cover, a car cover, the knock-off wheel hammer, personalized license plates (UL2M8AH) and a spiral bound album fully documenting the entire restoration process.
