Sellers description:
1961 Austin Healey 3000 Mk. II BT7 "Tri-Carb"
s/n HBT7/L/17090
Metallic Green with Navy Interior
This particular BT7 "tri-carb" car is an exceedingly solid and strong running driver quality car which could be used as is, or restored over time by its future owner. It was purchased in the early 1990s from another California, Bay Area owner and has clearly benefited from its dry climate residency. The current owner has had the clutch replaced, brake work done, installed an oversized radiator, fitted a new exhaust, and rebuilt the overdrive unit. While previously blue, the car was repainted to metallic green.
Included with the car are records which outline regular work performed back to 1990, a jack with knock-off hammer, matching spare wire wheel, top and side windows, and a car cover.
As a solid, easy to enjoy, and rare "tri-carb" model, this 3000 Mk. II will appeal to those enthusiasts looking for a nice driver quality car to restore over time, or use as is.
Please note this example is titled as a 1962.

Auction description:
This 1961 Austin-Healey 3000 is a Tri-Carb Mk II 4-seater that reportedly spent much of its history in the San Francisco Bay Area until its purchase by the seller in 2012. The 2.9-liter inline-six is mated to a rebuilt 4-speed manual gearbox and overdrive unit, and the car received a bare metal repaint, new interior upholstery, and convertible top between 2014-2016. Additional items added by the seller include new bumpers, trim, and wire wheels. This BT7 is offered with parts receipts from the seller, and is titled and registered in Oregon as a 1962 model.
The car was personally stripped to the bare metal by the seller and repainted in a color similar to Healey Blue. Various dings were removed in the process, along with the incorporation of new metal around the battery to tray as part of rust repair to the area. New bumpers were installed at the same time along with a new grill. Finish quality is described as driver-level overall with a few noted imperfections and blemishes.
The soft top is shown above and is accompanied by a tonneau cover and side curtains shown below. A new set of chrome wire wheels are wrapped in Nexen SB802 tires at all four corners.
Inside, the 4-place interior benefits from new navy blue leather upholstery with matching carpets and door panels. All systems and electrics are said to be in working order. The odometer shows 72k miles but is stated to be inaccurate.
The 2.9-liter inline-six features three SU carburetors and is claimed to be original and is paired to the factory 4-speed manual gearbox. Work in 2014 included a rebuild of the gearbox and Laycock de Normanville overdrive unit. Just under 300 miles are said to have been added by the seller following the rebuild, and is said run, drive, and stop as designed.
The trunk is tidy and houses a matching spare. Items sold with the car include a black tonneau cover.
