Ebay item 7/7/07
Current bid $40,099.99 reserve not met, 18 bids, 1 day left in auction.
1966 Austin Healey 3000 MkIII PhaseII. This is an older restoration representing a very nice example of the Austin Healey Marque. It is arguably the best year of the best model in the most desired color. And it came fitted from the factory with all of the desired options like wire wheels, heater and overdrive.
This particular BJ8 comes in the highly sought after color of Healey Blue. As would be expected from one in this condition, it does come with the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate stating that it is exactly as it left the factory on January 10, 1966. The certificate states the port of entry as Charleston, SC and the vehicle has remained in the Southeast Region it’s entire life.
Since the restoration, it has been meticulously maintained and remains in very good overall condition. The paint and the body both remain in outstanding condition. The blue interior is in very nice condition including seats, carpeting, trim, door panels and dash pad. The wood dash and varnish are absolutely perfect and show no signs of wear.
Has near perfect Dayton chrome wire wheels riding on 165 R15 86T Widetrack tires having like new tread.. The convertible top and convertible top boot are in like new condition with clear glass and flawless fabric. Overall chrome and glass are both in very good condition. Comes with fresh service, a recent battery, badge bar and new Healey mats to top things off.
This one runs and drives like they were intended. Mechanically this car remains in very good condition. Starts right up and runs and drives out very well with everything working as it should. The engine is very strong, holds good oil pressure and sounds great. The clutch and transmission work flawlessly with the overdrive working exactly as it should.
If you are looking for one to drive, then you won’t find one much better prepared than this. It has been outfitted with an electronic ignition, Lucas Sports Coil, generator has been changed to an alternator, has a spin-on oil filter adapter, and an upgraded cooling fan. Definitely ready for the road. Of course for the enthusiasts out there, it does come with all of the original components as well.
Whether you are looking for one to show, a daily driver, or something to drive on Sunday afternoon that represents one of the best, then this is likely the Austin Healey for you.
