Car to be at auction 9/13
1964 Austin-Healey 3000 MkIII BJ-8 Sports Convertible
Las Vegas 2013
Consignment # 6049
VIN: HBJ8L 28201
Vehicle to be offered for Auction sale September 26th-28th at Russo and Steele's inaugural Las Vegas, Nevada Auction.
Believed an original California car, this exceptional final-series 3000 Mk III Sports Convertible from 1965 is appropriately finished in Dark British Racing Green with Black leather trim and a matching top and boot. Excellent features include a four-speed overdrive gearbox, a heater, and an adjustable steering wheel. Comprehensive restoration work included a bare-metal repaint and the partial re-plating of the chrome brightwork as required. Mechanical attention included a completely rebuilt suspension including new kingpins, bushings, and shock absorbers up front and new springs, bushings, and shock absorbers at the rear. The six-cylinder engine was rebuilt with all-new components and equipped with rebuilt carburetors and a newer mild-steel exhaust system. A replacement wiring harness and electrical components were fitted as well for enhanced reliability. In addition, a new servo and many other brake items were fitted.
The Healey's cockpit features a refinished dashboard and a complete new full leather interior trim kit from well-respected supplier Moss Motors was installed, including the front and rear seats and panels, plus carpeting and seals. The convertible top is a very nice older black crush grain vinyl top from top-quality supplier Robbins, and it appears to have been stowed most of the time, with few signs noted of exposure to the elements. A newer set of 72-spoke chrome wire wheels is surrounded by a new set of 165 x 15 radial tires to provide the perfect finishing touch. One of the finest driving machines ever produced, it is an excellent find at auction.
