Sellers description:
1964 Austin Healey 3000, MkIII, BJB
A great almost completely original example of the first of the Mark IIIs with only 2 owners in nearly 44 years and only 44,000 original miles!
The metal in the undercarriage, engine compartment and trunk are all solid. The engine is strong and burns no oil. The car was repainted in the late nineties and gets a lot of looks. Suspension and brakes were redone in 2003. The carburetors were professionally rebuilt in 2002. The car starts easily, idles right at correct rpm, and runs very well with a great exhaust note. Who needs a radio with such a great sounding exhaust, but this car does have the original Motorola AM radio? Oil pressure comes up quickly and engine temperature stays right in range. The car has working factory installed electronic overdrive. In very hot weather during hard acceleration there is a skip that feels like vapor lock. That problem has not been solved. Door latches, roll up windows and other cosmetics work well, but he radio and horn are currently not working. The top was replaced and fits well, but not perfectly. The bumpers and bumper guards have been re-chromed. One corner of the rear bumper is slightly bent due to a minor fender bender last summer. Wheels and rubber are all in good condition. The interior is original and functional, but needs restoration. The original panels are included and carpeting has been purchased, but not installed. There are many extra parts, manuals and a cover. The car is always garaged. There are also services records back to the 60’s though not complete.
Vehicle is located in Central New York 13815.
