This 1963 Austin-Healey 3000 Mark II BJ7 was purchased by the current owner about 15 years ago from the second owner, who reportedly had the car since 1966. A recent refurbishment included a full repaint in custom colors, a new interior, and several upgrades, including a 5-speed Toyota transmission. Power is provided by a 2.9-liter inline-six, and other modifications include a larger radiator, higher-ratio rear end, and BJ8 SU carburetors. The odometer now shows just over 39k miles, about 470 of which have been added since the refurbishment. The seller assisted with the refresh and is representing the car on behalf of the current owner. This Big Healey is offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate and a clear Tennessee title in the owner's name.

The body underwent a repaint in a custom two-tone combination using a Toyota maroon and a Volkswagen grey as part of refurbishment work, which took place between 2015 and 2017. According to the seller the panels were stripped and refinished with high quality base and clear coats. The seller states the brightwork was also refinished or replaced.

New 72-spoke chrome wire wheels with knock-off hubs have new Kuhmo tires mounted. A new windshield and other glass were fitted during refinishing work. New features introduced for the BJ7 included a folding convertible soft top, roll-up windows, and a curved windshield.

The Corinthian leather upholstery is custom designed to match the exterior finish and was sourced from Heritage Upholstery & Trim in Washington state. The convertible top also came from Heritage. The grey leather seats with maroon piping are complemented by maroon carpeting and a grey fabric boot for the convertible top. According to the seller the cost of interior work and top totaled over $11,000.

The odometer reads just over 39k miles, about 2,900 of which have been added by the current owner. Approximately 470 miles have been driven since the restoration was completed in 2017.

The 2.9-liter inline-six has been fitted with two SU HD8 carburetors from a BJ8 model in place of the original HS6 units. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual Toyota transmission that was installed as part of a conversion kit marketed for Austin-Healeys. A higher-ratio Healey differential has also been added, along with a larger radiator.

The refresh also included a new stainless steel exhaust and new suspension parts. The refurbishment was reportedly observed by Gerry Coker, the engineer who designed bodywork for the Big Healey.

The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate lists the original colors and production information. It is included with the sale in addition to a tool kit and knock-off hammer.

This 1963 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ7 Mk II is said to have been refurbished approximately five years ago and was listed on BaT in August 2018. The car is finished in maroon and gray over gray leather and is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a Toyota five-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes twin SU carburetors, a retractable soft top, knock-off 15″ wire wheels, chrome-finished bumpers, auxiliary lights, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. The car was acquired by the late owner in 2019, and subsequent work has involved replacement of the water pump, brake master cylinder, tires, and a rear axle seal. This Austin-Healey is offered by the seller on behalf of the owner’s estate with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate, a driver’s handbook, service records, and a clean Georgia title.

Finished in two-tone Colorado Red and Black from the factory, the car was repainted in maroon and gray approximately five years ago. Exterior details include a black soft top, chrome-finished bumpers, a front badge bar mounted with auxiliary driving lights, a hood scoop, fender-mounted side mirrors, and twin exhaust outlets.

Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels feature knock-off hubs and wear 155/80 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires that were installed in 2019. Work performed during the refurbishment is said to have included overhauling the suspension and replacement of the driveshaft. Stopping power is provided by front discs and rear drums, and the brake master cylinder and right-rear axle seal were replaced in June 2019.

The cabin features front low-back bucket seats and individual rear seats upholstered in replacement gray leather with maroon piping. Maroon carpeting lines the floor pans, and equipment includes a central armrest, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, rubber floor mats, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel.

Instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 40k miles, and true mileage is unknown.

The 2.9-liter inline-six is equipped with an upgraded radiator and twin SU HD8 carburetors sourced from a BJ8 model. A replacement water pump and radiator cap were installed in July 2021.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement Toyota five-speed manual transmission.

The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists original colors, factory equipment, and a dispatch date of September 24, 1962. A driver’s handbook and service service records are also included in the sale.
