This 1956 Austin-Healey 100 BN2 Roadster was fitted with a Le Mans conversion kit following production and was originally shipped to Belgium. It was purchased in Ohio by the seller's father in 1979 and has remained in the family since. Power is from the numbers-matching 2,660cc inline-four, which is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive and features twin 1.75" SU H6 carburetors, a high-lift camshaft, higher-compression pistons, and other Le Mans modifications. The car is finished in Healey Blue over blue leather and features a louvered hood and leather hood strap that were part of the conversion. This BN2 is now being offered with a collection of spare parts, a leather upholstery set, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate, a 100M Le Mans Registry certificate reflecting its status as a Le Mans conversion, and a clear Ohio title in the seller's name.

The body is finished in Healey Blue and is believed to have been repainted at some point prior to its purchase by the seller's father. The finish is described as showing oxidation and various dings. Louvres in the hood and a leather hood strap were part of Le Mans conversion kits that were introduced for BN1 models and later featured on factory-produced 100M BN2 cars. The kits continued to be offered by the British Motor Corporation for non-M 100 BN2 models and were installed post-production by Donald Healey's factory, dealerships, or private owners.

Wheels with knock-off hubs from Hendrix Wire Wheel were installed along with new tires in 2004. The seller estimates fewer than 300 miles have been added since, and states the receipt offers free re-truing, shaving, and balancing at 5k miles. Driving lights are featured up front and wear stone guards, as do the headlamps. An older white soft top is included with the frame, and a new dark blue top is included. Also included is a dark blue tonneau cover. According to the BMIHT certificate, the car came with a hardtop, but the seller notes it was missing when his father acquired the car.

The cabin is trimmed in blue leather with grey piping and darker carpeting, and the upholstery shows wear. An additional interior trim kit comes with the car and includes dark blue leather upholstery with white piping for the seats and console and a set of dark blue carpets.

Smiths gauges include a speedometer that reads in mph, although the BMIHT certificate indicates it was built with instruments that read in kilometers. Total mileage is not known and the seller is unsure how many miles have been added during his family's ownership.

The 2,660cc inline-four is mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox with overdrive and features 8.1:1 compression pistons, a high-lift camshaft, a cold-air box, and larger H6 carburetors. These modification were part of the Le Mans kit sold by BMC to bring 100 models up to 100M specifications. Later modifications to the car include a dual clutch and brake master cylinder upgrade, as well as a clutch mechanism from Denis Welch Motorsport. According to the seller the family has serviced the car themselves during ownership, and the most recent work was a coolant flush in the summer of 2018.

Stamping 1B230869 matches the BMIHT certificate, confirming the engine as original.

In colder weather the engine is said to require extended cranking to start. The seller also notes that the Lucas electronics are not always reliable, and he recommends the brake system be gone through.

The seller notes that rust is visible on the surface of some areas of the underside.

The BMIHT certificate lists the original colors and engine number, and it notes that the Le Mans conversion may have been completed at Donald Healey's factory before the car was shipped to Belgium.

Included with the car is a collection of spares that includes performance suspension parts, a new wiring harness, and an aluminum oil pan.

Offered here is an extraordinary example of the increasingly popular Austin-Healey 100 BN2 which is eligible for some of the most prominent motoring events around the globe. According to its Heritage Trust Certificate, this fine Austin-Healey was completed at the Longbridge Austin-Healey works on Valentine's Day, 1956. A left-hand drive BN2 model, this example was dispatched from the factory on March 6, 1956. The 100 was destined to the Donald Healey Works agency in Warwick, UK before being sold to S.O.G.I.D.A. sports car dealer in Brussels, Belgium. According to the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust on file, it is stated that this very car may have been modified by Donald Healey Works in Warwick to 100M Le Mans specifications just as it appears today. The new Healey featured the four-speed overdrive transmission and the numerous smaller improvements implemented during the course of production since the introduction of the BN1 in 1953. The left-hand-drive Austin-Healey was equipped with a heater, kilometers per hour speedometer, double vertical dip headlamps, a blue hard top manufactured by Universal Laminators, sliding side screens and a laminated windscreen. The sports car was finished in Healey Blue over Blue upholstery and weather equipment. It is indeed very likely that the car was used for sports and competition events during its early years in Belgium.

The car later migrated to the United States where it was purchased by the prior owner in 1979 before being purchased by the consignor, a Southwestern Austin-Healey aficionado a few years ago. Photos of the car are on file dating back to the 1970s showing its 100M Le Mans configuration and also reveals that the car appears to carry the same paintwork now showing a lovely patina. The Austin-Healey has been kept in largely original and preserved condition over the years and retains its original, matching-numbers engine, bodywork, and sequential 100M Le Mans parts. The car has never been fully disassembled for restoration as that was never needed. In 2019 a mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment was carried out which included rebuilding the shock absorbers, braking system and suspension while fresh Vredestein tires and a stainless-steel exhaust system were fitted. A new interior was installed, and the dashboard and gauges were restored.

Equipped with the desirable 100M Le Mans upgrades dating back to very possibly Donald Healey's famous workshops when the car was brand new, this BN2 is true to the model's performance heritage and would be a wonderful entry on a number of classic car driving events and rallies. The Healey's engine and body tags are still intact and match the Heritage Trust Certificate. Overall, this wonderful example of Austin-Healey's excellent 100 BN2 should offer its next owner much joy and driving excitement.

In addition to the aforementioned history and restoration file, this 100M Le Mans is offered with owner's handbook, tonneau cover, the original leather seats and the British Motor Industry-issued Heritage Trust Certificate. Mille Miglia eligible, the classic 100M Le Mans Healey remains one of the most popular mid-century sports cars ever produced, and this fine example deserves serious consideration.
