This 1956 Austin-Healey BN2 Roadster is one of 640 100M examples produced over a 10-month span, and it was built to North American specifications in January 1956. The car reportedly spent time in Canada and was later brought to Pennsylvania, where it was refurbished in 1996 before it was relocated to Wisconsin. The seller reportedly cared for the car for the previous owner before purchasing it in July 2020. Finished in green and white over black upholstery, the car is equipped with a black soft top and powered by a 2,660cc inline-four mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes 15″ wire wheels, SU carburetors, a louvered hood with leather straps, and a folding windshield. Recent service is said to have included an oil change, an overhaul of the braking system, replacement of the spark plugs and battery, and installation of four Michelin tires. This 100M is offered with a black tonneau cover and side curtains, a tool kit, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate, service records from 2000, and a clean Wisconsin title in the seller’s name.

The car was refinished in its factory shade of Florida Green with contrasting Ivory White lower bodywork during the refurbishment completed in 1996. The louvered hood is noted on the BMIHT certificate as factory 100M equipment, and additional equipment includes chrome bumpers, Lucas front driving lamps, leather hood straps, and a folding windshield. A black tonneau cover and side curtains are included in the sale.

Painted 15″ wire wheels with two-eared knock-offs are mounted with 165-series Michelin XZX tires that are said to have been recently mounted. The brake shoes, hoses, wheel cylinders, and master cylinder were recently replaced according to the seller.

The seats are upholstered in black leather, and the cabin features a painted metal dashboard as well as matching black door panels and carpeting. Additional equipment includes a heater, a passenger grab handle, and a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror. Wear is visible on the seating surfaces.

The banjo-style steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, a fuel gauge, and a combination oil-pressure and water-temperature gauge. The five-digit odometer was set to zero following the refurbishment and shows 5k miles, though total mileage is unknown.

The 2,660cc inline-four was overhauled in 2000 by PHP Racengines Inc., of Wauconda, Illinois, and features twin SU HD6 carburetors and a polished aluminum valve cover. The seller notes that recent service included performing an oil change, rebuilding the carburetors, and replacing the spark plugs and battery.

The stampings on the body and chassis number plates match the numbers on the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, though the engine number plate is missing.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with electrically operated overdrive. The seller reports that the clutch components were recently replaced and that an additional fuel cell has been fitted within the fuel tank.

The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate indicates a build date in January 1956 along with factory options and serial numbers. A tool kit, jack, and knock-off wheel hammer are included in the sale, along with service records from 2000.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
